About the role

As the Senior Business Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of high-quality financial business advice across the organisation. You will support leaders and stakeholders by overseeing the effective delivery of information related to financial performance, monitoring, reporting and analysis, helping the organisation make informed, strategic and operational decisions. Your work will be central to maintaining strong financial governance and transparency.

In this position, you will lead budget development and forecasting activities, provide expert operational financial advice, and build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to support organisational priorities. You will contribute to shaping a financially sustainable service environment, ensuring financial practices are aligned with strategic objectives and enabling teams to deliver safe, high-quality care with confidence.

You communicate with clarity, influence effectively at all levels, and thrive in environments undergoing reform, improvement and change. Your professionalism, leadership and capacity to deliver timely, accurate and strategic financial advice make you a trusted partner to executives, stakeholders and operational teams.

Key Requirements

  • Leadership, communication & stakeholder engagement
    Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, build constructive relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, and manage sensitive and complex issues with confidence. Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and accurately.

  • Strategic financial management & analytical capability
    Demonstrated commercial acumen in analysing and interpreting data, undertaking high-level financial research and analysis, resolving strategic and operational issues, and contributing to financial strategies that improve organisational performance.

  • Experience in financial governance, change & performance improvement
    Proven experience in senior financial management roles, leading accountability reforms, implementing change initiatives, supporting continuous quality improvement, and delivering effective budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting within complex environments.

  • Knowledge of legislative frameworks, risk & organisational reform
    Understanding of relevant legislation, safety frameworks and risk management standards (including AS/NZS ISO 31000), along with insight into the health sector reform agenda and emerging directions, enabling informed decision-making and sound financial stewardship.
