About the Role:

Be part of an exciting new chapter in cancer care with the opening of the $25 million North Eastern Cancer Centre at Modbury Hospital Health Precinct. This state-of-the-art facility will serve up to 50 patients daily, bringing comprehensive cancer treatment closer to home for northern Adelaide communities.  Will be required to work across both Modbury and Lyell McEwin Hospital.

The new cancer centre features seven modern outpatient consulting rooms and three interview rooms supporting clinical trials, nursing, and pharmacy education. Located on a dedicated floor with separate entrance and drop-off area, the centre provides an optimal environment for patient care and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering specialist oncology services across inpatient, outpatient, and day chemotherapy settings.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary cancer care within the Northern Adelaide Cancer Centre.
  • Leading and supervising trainee medical officers and medical students.
  • Driving clinical research and trials to advance oncology practice.
  • Contributing to strategic planning, policy development, and quality improvement initiatives.

You will play a pivotal role in providing safe, evidence-based, and patient-focused care, while contributing to teaching, research, and clinical leadership.

To be eligible for this position, you must possess a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, and appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

A higher degree (MD, PhD) would be beneficial to the role. 

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

  • Expertise in the management of Gynaecological, Sarcoma and CNS malignancies would be desirable.
  • A demonstrated track record of development and participation in investigator initiated clinical trials, supervision of trainee projects and audits resulting in publication would be desirable

Modbury Hospital A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.

Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes. 

Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.
