About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for maturing SALHN’s risk management system and processes including through the development of governance resources, escalation pathways, education and training, and advice in accordance with relevant policies and Australian Standards.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Develop and lead sustainable education and awareness strategies to enhance risk capability across all levels of SALHN in line with contemporary learning frameworks,
  • Coordinate with the Board risk appetite and risk tolerances to inform decision making across the organisation,
  • Lead the self-assessment of risk management maturity across SALHN, developing strategy and leading the implementation of an annual workplan towards benefit realisation,
  • Engage with senior management and staff to integrate governance frameworks, processes, tools and templates particularly in relation to corporate risks,
  • Guide Executive Risk Owners in their identification, assessment and monitoring of strategic risks
  • Prepare high quality accurate reports by due date to the Executive Leadership Committee, Audit and Risk Committee and the Department of Health and Wellbeing

About you:

  • Proven commitment to the principles and practice of risk management and evidence of keeping informed of best practices in risk management,
  • Ability to foster cooperation and support of internal and external stakeholders is proven,
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, presentation, communication and networking skills,
  • Proficient organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/programs/projects is proven,
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, analyse, design/engineer and recommend solutions for complex business processes or issues,
  • Established experience in working effectively, efficiently and respectfully with all levels of staff within a complex organisation,
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of risk management methodology to deliver complex assessments of risk exposure involving multiple stakeholders including analysing and interpreting complex mandates or standards which directly impact organisational activities,
  • Demonstrated experience in building and embedding risk capability ensuring best practice risk management within all levels of a large and complex organisation
