Administrative Officer Role - Support Excellence in Healthcare at SA Health

About the role: 

Reporting to the Managers, this role is responsible for providing administrative support to the Bone Density Unit. This support should be provided in accordance with the policies and procedures with SALHN. The incumbent is also required to provide relief of reception duties to the Southern Adelaide Endocrine and Diabetes Service (SADES) on occasions.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Applying sound knowledge of office procedures,
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and making appointments when necessary or provide results for referring doctors,
  • Maintaining accurate appointment diaries,
  • Ensuring accurately entering and maintaining clinic appointments and files under limited direction,
  • Acting as a point of reference to patients, relatives, Local Health Network staff, general practitioners/medical specialists and members of the public to assist in the smooth running of the Bone Density Unit,
  • Coordinate all appointments for the Bone Density Unit under limited or no supervision,
  • Contribute to the efficient management of the Unit by providing advice to the Manager and Head of Unit and other unit staff to ensure continuous quality improvements

About you:

  • Ability to work as a member of a team, to manage a variable workload and work under pressure,
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively and appropriately with a variety of professional and non-professional staff, external agencies and members of the general public,
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy and empathy with members of the public under a variety of work pressures with demonstrated experience dealing with confidential matters and/or sensitive situations,
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines under limited supervision,
  • Ability to establish working relationships with all levels of staff and to contribute effectively within a multi-disciplinary team,
  • Experience in working within multi-disciplinary teams within a health care environment,
  • Proven experience in basic office management in a health care environment

There is the possibility for extension, including ongoing appointment at the end of this term vacancy
