About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the CALHN Pharmacy Manufacturing team as an AHA3 Pharmacy Technician. CALHN Pharmacy is the largest manufacturing service in the SA public system, with a broad range of products and opportunities available for a motivated, organised and engaging individual.

In this key position, you will work under the guidance of the AHA or AHP leader to deliver high-quality support across a comprehensive pharmacy service. Operating at an advanced level of competency, you will contribute to manufacturing, dispensing and distribution functions, assist with the packaging of pharmaceuticals, and provide essential inventory management to ensure safe and timely access to medications. Your role will also include organising daily workloads, monitoring quality standards, and supporting the preparation or manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, all while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, safety and service excellence.

Working closely with your AHA or AHP supervisor and the broader pharmacy leadership team, you will play an important part in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and cost-efficient drug therapy for patients. You will also support technical training for staff, contribute to workflow coordination and uphold high professional standards that enhance the efficiency and reliability of the pharmacy service. This is an opportunity to join a supportive team where your attention to detail, technical skill and commitment to patient outcomes will be genuinely valued.

Prior hospital pharmacy manufacturing experience, including cytotoxic/aseptic compounding skills, is highly valuable.

About You

You are a motivated and detail-oriented pharmacy professional who takes pride in delivering safe, efficient and high-quality support within a dynamic clinical environment. You bring a strong blend of technical capability, practical experience and teamwork, and you are committed to maintaining accurate workflows, supporting colleagues and contributing to a responsive and patient-centred pharmacy service.

Key Requirements

  • Qualifications & technical capability
Certificate IV or above in a relevant discipline, supported by proficiency across multiple pharmacy practice areas, strong arithmetic skills, excellent attention to detail and a high level of technical and manual dexterity, including confident use of pharmacy management systems and Microsoft applications.

  • Communication, teamwork & leadership
Effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to engage respectfully with diverse staff and consumers, and demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, teaching and contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team while also working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Operational efficiency & safe work practices
Strong organisational ability, time management and accuracy, with the capacity to follow and develop documented procedures, maintain safe work practices, manage stock and workflows, and support high-quality dispensing, distribution and pharmaceutical preparation processes.

  • Experience, knowledge & professional standards
Extensive hospital pharmacy experience, sound understanding of pharmaceutical products, dispensing and production methods, PBS requirements, GMP principles, confidentiality obligations and scope-of-practice guidelines, supported by enthusiasm for continual learning and ongoing improvement.
