About the Role

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care across a range of health service settings. Building on your consolidated clinical experience and professional growth, you will provide nursing services with confidence and compassion, while embracing opportunities to further develop your expertise. In this role, you will accept accountability for your own practice and for activities you delegate to others, offering guidance, mentorship and encouragement to less experienced staff as they grow in their careers.

You will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and fellow ANUMs to help lead and inspire the team, ensuring continuity, consistency and excellence in care. Your portfolio will see you contribute to key aspects of unit leadership, including supporting practice improvements, assisting with recruitment and performance processes, and helping manage staffing, rostering, workload allocation and resource planning. This is a rewarding opportunity to step into a supportive leadership role where your professionalism, initiative and collaborative spirit will make a genuine difference every day.

About You

You are a dedicated and adaptable nursing professional who brings strong clinical expertise, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach to delivering high-quality patient care.

  • Qualified and registered professional – Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible to hold a current practising certificate, with at least three years’ post-registration experience or current classification as a Clinical Nurse.

  • Skilled and capable clinician – Demonstrated competence in your area of nursing/midwifery practice, with solid knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes of conduct and ethics, and contemporary healthcare issues, including Quality Improvement Systems.

  • Strong communicator and problem solver – Effective communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, paired with the ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work under minimal supervision.

  • Collaborative, flexible, and supportive team member – Proven ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, with experience supervising students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses, and a creative and adaptable approach to challenges within the healthcare setting.
