  • Temporary up to 12 months and part-time working 30 hours per week
  • 7-day roster, 24/ 7 - ideal candidate would be available for mostly overnight shifts.

About the role

As an Operational Services Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of laboratory services. Once fully trained you would be working under limited direction with a co-worker in an overnight role, you will apply your practical skills and knowledge to ensure specimens are accurately sorted and accessioned in line with established protocols. Your attention to detail will be essential as you undertake accurate data entry, assist with preparatory duties, and support the safe storage and transport of specimens, contributing directly to the reliability and quality of laboratory outcomes.

This role is also highly customer focused, requiring you to manage both internal and external enquiries in a professional and courteous manner. You will be a key point of contact, ensuring clear communication and timely responses while maintaining a commitment to service excellence.   • Demonstrated ability to work with initiative under limited supervision, maintain accuracy and attention to detail, and consistently meet deadlines in a time-critical environment.

  • Proven experience working effectively as part of a team, managing competing priorities, and operating efficiently under pressure.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with experience handling enquiries and engaging professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Relevant experience in a pathology laboratory environment, with sound knowledge of laboratory operations, information systems, databases, and the ability to use computer software and hardware confidently.
