About the Role:

As Senior Intake Coordinator, you will:

  • Oversee and coordinate all incoming referrals to the CDU, ensuring efficient triage and prioritisation in line with clinical criteria.
  • Manage waitlists proactively, implementing strategies to improve access and reduce delays.
  • Liaise with families, schools, and community services to gather essential information and support pre-assessment processes.
  • Collaborate with paediatricians, psychologists, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists to facilitate diagnostic assessments.
  • Provide leadership in intake processes, mentor staff, and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

This role is pivotal in shaping the patient journey and ensuring families receive timely, compassionate, and expert care.

Qualifications: A relevant allied health degree (Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology) with professional registration.

Experience:

  • Expertise in paediatric assessment and management of complex developmental and neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Proven ability to make triage decisions based on risk and acuity.
  • Leadership experience in clinical or intake coordination roles.

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage families and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities to manage competing priorities.

Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications and experience in service development or research.

The Gordon McKay Child Development Unit at LMH provides a service to assess and support children with developmental concerns. Our team works with children who have challenges in three or more areas of development and who have not yet been formally assessed.
