About the role

The CAMHS Clinician Forensic Services, is operationally accountable to the Service Manager via the Clinical Services Coordinator, and professionally to the Senior of the same discipline, for delivering specialist child and adolescent mental health care to consumers to consumers with complex needs, particularly harmful sexual behaviour (HSB).

Providing forensic mental health services in a voluntary treatment program that works with youth in relation to HSB. Priority is for youth who have engaged in or have been convicted of sexually harmful behaviours. The program works with young people and their families, in metropolitan, rural, and remote regions of SA.

Providing services at the Youth Court, Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre and some periodic afterhours work.

Key duties of the role

AHP3

  • Provide forensic and clinical knowledge and interventions in child and adolescent mental health
  • Undertake the assessment of complex individuals and families’ presentations
  • Implement individual, family and/or other group therapies
  • Collaborate with consumers in the development of individual care/treatment plans
  • Provide knowledge in monitoring client care plans and clinical review programmes

RN3

  • Integrate contemporary information and evidence with personal experience
  • Provide a comprehensive therapeutic assessment
  • Provide expert clinical mental health nursing care
  • Coordinate and provide day to day clinical leadership of the multidisciplinary team activities
  • Hold a contemporary professional practice portfolio

Skills and Experience

AHP3:

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification – please view the Role Description for specific Educational Criteria.
  • Clinical experience in the delivery of Discipline practice to children and adolescents
  • Ability to carry out assessments and interventions of a highly complex nature
  • Experience in working from a forensic framework
  • High-level interpersonal skills

RN3:

  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience
  • Demonstrated competence in delivering proficient and comprehensive mental health nursing assessment
  • Effective leadership skills including skills in communication and problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
