About the role

As the Cellular Therapies Quality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening the quality, safety and regulatory excellence of SA Pathology’s Cellular Therapies Laboratory. Working closely with the Laboratory Manager, you will contribute to the planning, implementation, management and evaluation of a robust Quality Management System that supports the delivery of highly specialised cellular therapy services. Your work will ensure that every process—from collection through to processing and release—is underpinned by precision, compliance and continuous improvement.

In this leadership role, you will oversee all quality, regulatory and accreditation activities, ensuring adherence to NATA, GMP and other relevant standards. You will support laboratory staff to maintain best-practice processes, prepare for audits, and resolve quality-related issues, guiding the laboratory to meet its operational and accreditation objectives. Your contribution will be central to delivering safe, compliant and innovative cellular therapy services that make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced and collaborative scientific professional with strong expertise in quality management, regulatory compliance and evidence-based laboratory practice. Your background in medical laboratory science equips you to analyse complex issues, lead investigations, support accreditation activities and contribute to continuous improvement across cellular therapy services. You bring a calm, organised and solutions-focused approach to your work, with the confidence to operate independently while engaging effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Requirements

  • Professional qualifications & scientific capability
    Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent, meeting NPAAC requirements for medical scientists, supported by experience in cellular therapy, transplantation or related laboratory environments.

  • Quality management, regulatory knowledge & analytical skills
    Experience conducting quality activities, supporting audits, interpreting standards and legislation, and applying regulatory frameworks such as NPAAC, GMP, FACT-JACIE, TGA and OGTR, with strong ability to evaluate information and draw sound conclusions.

  • Leadership, communication & teamwork
    Demonstrated leadership and management experience, excellent written and verbal communication, proven negotiation capability, and the ability to foster cooperation, resolve conflict constructively and support a positive team culture.

  • Project management, problem-solving & independent practice
    Ability to prioritise effectively, undertake projects with limited supervision, initiate quality improvements, use data for decision-making, and operate as an experienced practitioner within multidisciplinary clinical teams.
