About the Role

The Eyre and Far North Local Health Network is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Nurse Consultant – Mental Health (RN3A) to provide expert clinical leadership and consultancy across Community Mental Health services.

In this ongoing role, you will deliver advanced mental health nursing care, provide professional leadership to nursing staff, and contribute to service improvement initiatives across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings. You will work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, supporting recovery-oriented, person-centred care for mental health consumers and their families.

This position is primarily based in Port Lincoln, within the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network. EFNLHN provides services across a diverse and expansive region, offering the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant coastal community while making a meaningful impact in regional mental health care.

Key Duties

  • Provide expert clinical mental health nursing care, including assessment, case management, therapeutic interventions, and evaluation of consumer outcomes.
  • Deliver professional leadership, mentorship, and clinical guidance to nursing staff, including Level 1 and Level 2 nurses and Enrolled Nurses.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, service development, and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Support complex discharge planning, hospital avoidance, and continuity of care.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and consultation within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead and contribute to education, professional development, and clinical supervision.
  • Participate in research activities and apply evidence-based recommendations to improve service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with SA Health policies, legislation, and professional standards.

About You

  • You are an experienced Mental Health Nurse who demonstrates:
  • Current registration (or eligibility) as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • A Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).
  • At least three years post-registration experience, with demonstrated expertise in mental health nursing practice.
  • Strong clinical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring nursing staff and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to culturally safe, recovery-oriented care, including working with Aboriginal consumers.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage complex clinical situations, and lead change initiatives.
