Join Our Child Protection Team - Administrative Assistant at Flinders Medical Centre!

Join SA Health as an Administrative Assistant supporting Child Safety and Wellbeing Health Service at Flinders Medical Centre, where you will provide essential administrative support to healthcare professionals and social workers protecting vulnerable children. This part-time contract position until October 2026 offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that directly impacts child welfare outcomes in the Southern Adelaide community. You will manage confidential documentation, coordinate appointments, and support multidisciplinary teams in delivering critical child protection assessments and interventions.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for providing a secretarial and administrative support service to the Director, CSWHS and clinicians of the Service. This support service comprises a typing component with regard to assessment reports (psychological, forensic, medical, developmental, cognitive) in relation to infants, children and adolescents following evaluation by medical and allied health professionals.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provision of reception services to clients and visitors. The incumbent is expected to work in a fast and efficient manner displaying courtesy at all times,
  • Performing extensive and comprehensive word processing and Dictaphone duties in relation to reports, letters and other documents for distribution to a broad range of professionals and services across the health system. Ensure these duties are carried out efficiently and accurately,
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumer,
  • Book interviews and arrange client transport and other administrative support for the medical and allied health staff when required,
  • Taking minutes for staff and other meetings

About you:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in personal computing including word processing, use of data bases and presentation software,
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner,
  • Ability to produce high quality keyboard work efficiently and accurately under a variety of conditions using personal computers and associated software,
  • Experience with Dictaphone typing,
  • Ability to respond to enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner and deal with distressed clients using tact and discretion,
  • Ability to work in an emotionally demanding environment and with emotionally demanding content and achieve objectives when working under pressure,
  • Extensive experience within secretarial, administrative and clerical areas,
  • Experience with using software packages, in particular Microsoft Office,
  • Experience in using database programs
