About the role

Provide strategic and operational leadership for Surgical Services Nursing. Oversee divisional operations, education, quality improvement, and performance monitoring. Partner with Nurse Consultants, multidisciplinary teams, and the Advanced Divisional Nursing Director to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

Key duties of the role

  • Oversee nursing/midwifery practice, models of care, and compliance with standards
  • Lead divisional clinical governance, quality, safety, and education initiatives
  • Develop and implement service models, IT systems, and risk management strategies
  • Support workforce management, staff development, and healthy work environments
  • Drive innovation, research translation, and stakeholder engagement

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with current NMBA practising certificate
  • 5+ years post-registration experience in leadership/management
  • Experience leading complex projects, service change, and quality initiatives
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and consumer engagement skills
  • Knowledge of health legislation, governance, and contemporary nursing/midwifery practice
