Join Ward 18V in an ongoing role and support the inpatient mental health unit for older persons.

Ward 18V is an acute inpatient unit for older people with mental health problems. The unit provides treatment and support for people living in the southern metropolitan Adelaide area and some country areas. It is a 30-bed unit that is divided into two separate areas – the General Unit and the High Dependency Unit. Each consumer is accommodated and cared for in the area that best meets their individual needs.

About the Role:

As the Registered Nurse, your duties may include: 

  • Providing direct person centred nursing care and individual case management to patients on a shift by shift basis in Ward 18V with increasing autonomy over time.
  • Planning and coordinating services with other disciplines or agencies in providing individual health care needs
  • Providing health promotion and education, to patients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual.
  • Supporting nursing practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff and preceptorship of graduates.

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

  • To be Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate.
  • Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
