About the role

The Allied Health Assistant supports patient care under the supervision of allied health professionals. Responsibilities include assisting in individual and group therapy sessions, including the use of the hydrotherapy pool, preparing equipment, performing hydrotherapy pool checks, delivering high-quality care, and accurately documenting patient programs.

Key duties of the role

  • Assist in individual or group therapy sessions
  • Provide standby assistance in the hydrotherapy pool
  • Deliver high quality patient care as directed by the therapist
  • Contribute to the safe operation of the hydrotherapy pool
  • Monitor, order, and supply equipment and consumable stock levels.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a patient care setting or in assisting a health care professional
  • High levels of professionalism and effective communication skills
  • Initiative in carrying out routine tasks without direction
  • Physical strength, flexibility, and endurance sufficient for manual handling of patients and equipment
  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of an Allied Health Professional
