We have opportunities for Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) midwives in Port Pirie, Jamestown and Crystal Brook

The Yorke and Northern Local Health Network offers an all risk MGP which allows you to practice autonomously in a continuity of care caseload model with a reported high level of work satisfaction.

Our services provide continuity of care across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. This includes antenatal care and clinics from 12-14 weeks, intrapartum care, postnatal care in the hospital or at home, collaborative multi-disciplinary clinics, lactation services and childbirth education.

Across all five MGP sites, we care for approximately 600 women and families per year. The three larger sites are Port Pirie, Wallaroo and Clare with Jamestown and Crystal Brook being the two smaller sites.

This is a recruitment pool for suitably qualified midwives covering:

Permanent (from 0.8FTE) fixed term, temporary contracts and casual appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

The following should be noted:

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications and will assess on a regular basis.
  • Interviews will be conducted as part of the recruitment process.
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/5/2026. 

Position Profile:

This role will provide continuity of care across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. This includes antenatal care and clinics from 12-14 weeks, intrapartum care, postnatal care in the hospital or at home, collaborative multi-disciplinary clinics, lactation services and childbirth education.

This role will enable you to be supported to work to the full scope of your midwifery skills.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated recency of midwifery practice across the continuum of maternity care.
  • Demonstrated well developed clinical knowledge and experience across women-centred continuum of care models.
  • Demonstrated well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including team leadership and clinical escalation capability.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement and risk management to improve the experience for women and their families.
  • Demonstrated digital capability to enable access and use of available technology for safe patient care and information availability.
