About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Project Coordinator to play a pivotal role in delivering an MRFF-funded research study focused on improving outcomes for mothers and newborns in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. This exciting role will see you lead the coordination of the study Preventing intra-uterine infection and neonatal sepsis treatment failure in CALD communities: Precision antibiotic therapy through pathogen genomics, working closely with investigators across SA Pathology and partner organisations. As a trusted collaborator, you will contribute to strategic planning and ensure the smooth, end-to-end rollout of research activities across multiple South Australian sites.

As Project Coordinator, you will take a hands-on leadership role in managing study operations, including staff recruitment and training, ethics and governance submissions, and the development of standardised procedures. You will work alongside scientists and senior leaders to support research test development within robust ethical, regulatory and quality frameworks, while ensuring accurate reporting to stakeholders and funders. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to scientific publications, presentations and future grant applications, as well as to participate in teaching and training within the department. About You

You are a motivated and capable professional who brings a strong blend of scientific understanding, project coordination expertise and people skills, and who thrives in a dynamic research or clinical environment. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following key attributes:

  • Relevant qualifications and technical capability – A tertiary qualification in science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), with advanced proficiency in PC-based software including Microsoft Office.

  • Proven project and research experience – Demonstrated experience working in a clinical and/or research setting, including data handling, human research ethics and the preparation of high-quality reports, proposals and briefings.

  • Strong leadership, judgement and communication skills – The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders, chair meetings, facilitate workshops, deliver presentations and communicate confidently at all levels.

  • Sound governance, safety and ethical knowledge – A strong understanding of the Responsible Conduct of Research, with the ability to work within WHS legislation, risk management frameworks and government policy to ensure safe, ethical and compliant research delivery.
