                         Shape the Future of Plastic Surgery - Research Coordinator Role Available

The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre is committed to becoming a national leader in clinical outcomes research and evidence-based care for plastic surgery. The Clinical Research Co-ordinator is responsible for conducting and coordinating research projects in key areas of plastic surgery, such as breast reconstruction after cancer, hand surgery, and skin cancer, as well as assisting in establishing new research programs within the department. The incumbent will ensure the eligibility and consent of patients participating in research studies, collect and maintain accurate data, coordinate clinical follow-ups, and perform relevant clinical procedures as required.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, some of your duties as the Research Coordinator may involve:

  • Facilitating the implementation and assisting the Head of Unit (HOU) in management of the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery research portfolio including financial, research governance and human resource management to maximise the unit efficiency and output. 
  • Working collaboratively with the Level 2 Research Assistant and providing supervision as needed. 
  • Leading monthly Department research meetings with HOU and other members of the research team . 


About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in a science, health science or applied science discipline or a related field. 
  • Experience in Microsoft Access database management and SPSS software. 
  • Ability to express empathy and tact when dealing with patients.
  • Experience in Ethics procedures and applications.
  • Experience in conducting basic literature reviews.
  • Experience in research project management.
  • Clinical experience in a related field.
  • Experience in Clinical Outcomes Research.
