About the role

As the Advanced Clinical Educator – Ultrasound, you will lead the delivery of a comprehensive ultrasound training program at the RHP, while also supporting and collaborating across other SAMI sites.

This pivotal role requires significant professional judgement, applying up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge in a specialised and complex environment. You will play a key role in shaping education and training for the sonographer workforce, ensuring quality, consistency, and the integration of innovative technologies and processes.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across SAMI, you will oversee education and development activities that support the training of new and returning sonographers, ongoing professional development, and ultrasound scanning training for Radiology Registrars and other medical officers. You will also liaise with education providers to enhance training outcomes and contribute to research and innovation within ultrasound practice.

About You

You are a highly skilled and forward-thinking Medical Sonographer with a passion for education, innovation, and advancing ultrasound practice. With a balance of clinical expertise and leadership capability, you are committed to training the next generation of sonographers while maintaining excellence in patient care.

In this role, you will need:

  • An ASAR-accredited postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound with broad advanced-level clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in performing a wide range of ultrasound imaging procedures, including complex and specialised studies.
  • Advanced clinical skills in Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound examinations, including ultrasound guided MSK procedures.
  • Strong experience in clinical education, training, and staff development, with the ability to foster collaborative, multidisciplinary learning.
  • Well-developed communication, problem-solving and leadership skills, with sound knowledge of quality improvement and safety principles.

Ultrasound at the RHP provides structured bookings for a wide variety of examinations, predominantly services public outpatients and is the specialty MSK ultrasound site for South Australia Medical Imaging. The medical imaging department is also growing – with building under way as part of a service expansion that includes three more Ultrasound rooms, a new MRI and a second CT.
