Community Mental Health - Rehabilitation Services (Whyalla)

Whyalla Hospital hosts the Saltbush Community Mental Health Rehabilitation service, which is part of the South Australian Government’s strategy to reform mental health services and to provide a stepped model of care to regional South Australians at a location closer to home. The service supports people who may have been living independently in the community but require a more supported environment to enhance their living skills, or those who may have completed their stay in hospital and are ready for community-based treatment and rehabilitation. About the Role:

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of comprehensive, evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health services across the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network. Working under the supervision of a clinician, you will provide non-clinical, integrated psychosocial support to consumers across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings. In this hands-on role, you will support consumers to understand and engage with recovery and rehabilitation principles, assisting them with day-to-day activities that align with their individual care plans. You will play an important role in promoting social and emotional wellbeing, supporting independence, and working collaboratively with clinicians, consumers, and service providers to help individuals progress toward their recovery goals in a supportive and respectful environment. 

 

About You:

  • Experience in reporting to and liaising with multiple stakeholders across the spectrum of community services or health.
  • Experience in working with people who have health and/or mental health related issues.
  • Experience in working within a community services team environment and successful participation in such a setting.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software packages including word processing, desktop publishing, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal consumers.
