Join SA Health as a Senior Clinical or Health Psychologist specialising in Aged Care and older persons services at the renowned Repatriation Health Precinct. You'll deliver comprehensive psychological services to older people on our GEM (Geriatric Evaluation Management) wards including assessments, interventions, carer support, and positive behaviour consultations through our innovative GEM inpatient programs. About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for providing care to people with complex medical, functional, behavioural, and/or psychosocial needs in an inpatient hospital setting. This includes the provision of psychological assessments, treatment planning, interventions, and supportive care planning in collaboration with the patient, their family, carer, and existing community services involved in their care

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing a specialist Clinical/Health Psychology service including assessment, treatment planning, intervention, positive behaviour support planning, evaluation, and consultation to patients individually and in group settings,
  • Communicating with clients’ family, carers, and other service providers,
  • Participating in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to clients,
  • Documenting assessment findings and interventions in accordance with service standards,
  • Providing information to clients and/or relatives about the level of functioning and ongoing management,
  • Advising, as requested, external clinicians regarding more complex cases,
  • Linking clients and carers with relevant community resources and services,
  • Collaborating with team members to initiate, develop, implement, and evaluate therapy/activity groups,
  • Effective and timely development of Clinical/Health Psychology services commensurate with the goals of the designated service and the broader RAP services,
  • Developing systems for monitoring, reviewing, and improving the standards of services to clients,
  • Initiating, developing, and contributing to educational activities within the team

About you:

  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), with an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology,
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology, or higher, as recognised by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA),
  • Hold approved supervisor status with the PsyBA at all levels of supervision, or: Eligible to complete PsyBA accredited supervision training and willing to undertake this training at the direction of the organisation to support services’ supervision requirements,
  • High level of ability to design, implement, and evaluate psychological procedures and interventions, including psychological assessments, and consultancy services, in relation to complex clients,
  • Ability to apply specialist skills in resolving clinical problems,
  • Demonstrated abilities in communication, liaison, and teamwork,
  • Ability to undertake assessment and intervention with clients with a variety of disorders and disabilities, including management of complex cases,
  • Ability to provide clinical services as a member of an interdisciplinary team,
  • Experience providing psychological treatments
