Join our Jamie Larcombe Centre as an Occupational Therapist

Join the Jamie Larcombe Centre multi-disciplinary team and make a meaningful difference in mental health care. As an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver person-centred occupational therapy interventions that support consumers to build independence, resilience, and wellbeing.

Experience working with veterans is not required. You will be supported by a welcoming and experienced team and work within a well-resourced service, including access to a Virtual Reality and sensory modulation room and a therapy garden, to help you adapt to the unique service setting.

This is an initial 4-month contract working across ambulatory care (co-located at the JLC) and inpatient environments, with potential for extension within this service or elsewhere. This role is ideal for an Occupational Therapist seeking variety, professional growth, and meaningful impact.

About the role: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy care to consumers with complex mental health needs through assessment, care coordination, and evidence-based individual and group interventions.
  • Deliver rehabilitation and skills-based programs that support independence, recovery, and community participation.
  • Collaborate to ensure continuity of care, working closely with consumers, families, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and external services.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness and service quality through professional practice, supervision, continuous improvement, and adherence to safety and clinical standards.

About you:

You are a motivated and skilled Occupational Therapist who thrives in mental health settings and is passionate about making a difference for people with complex needs. You will bring:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Strong mental health and OT assessment skills, including comprehensive needs analysis, risk awareness, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions (individual and group).
  • Proven ability to engage consumers with high and complex mental health needs, building effective therapeutic relationships with consumers and carers.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, working cohesively within a multidisciplinary team and with key stakeholders, community services, and partner agencies.
  • High-quality communication and documentation skills, including clear clinical reasoning and professional Occupational Therapy report writing.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional standards, including person- and family-centred care, risk management, and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
