About the role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering a safe, efficient and high-quality pharmacy service that directly supports patient care. Working at an advanced level, under the guidance of an AHA or AHP leader, you will contribute across clinical support, dispensing, distribution, packaging and inventory management. You will work closely with supervisors and Pharmacy Managers to support safe, cost-effective medication use and help achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

In this role, you will help coordinate daily pharmacy operations, support and coach pharmacy assistants, and oversee workload priorities and housekeeping standards. You will use pharmacy management and hospital systems to process prescriptions accurately and manage stock, including controlled drugs, manufactured products and recalls. You will also identify opportunities to improve service delivery, ensure technical accuracy of work across the team, and collaborate across sites using video and teleconferencing as required.

In the automation role, you will act as the dedicated customer lead for Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) implementation efforts at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. You will:

  • Assist with interface testing
  • Lead efforts to configure and load new ADC stations
  • Active role in staff training
  • Act as the point of contact for all nursing process issues with the ADC and Anaesthetic Automated Dispensing Cabinet (AADC) systems
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the vendor’s Technical Support Centre
  • Assist in the ongoing review and configuration of ADCs and AADCs
  • Coordinate and support regular, scheduled preventative maintenance of the ADCs and AADCs
  • Assist the Senior Pharmacist in reviewing and updating local policies and procedures related to the ADCs and AADCs
  • Undertake additional duties to support implementation of the ADCs as directed

About You

You bring strong pharmacy expertise, leadership capability and a commitment to safe, high-quality practice in a hospital environment.

• Relevant Certificate IV or above in pharmacy, business, leadership or project practice
• Demonstrated competence across multiple pharmacy practice areas
• Proven ability to supervise, coach and support others effectively
• Strong technical, organisational and communication skills with high attention to detail
