About the Role:

A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Speech Pathologist to join the SA Intellectual Disability Health Service (SAIDHS) within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and enhancing their communication, participation and overall quality of life.

As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will deliver specialist assessment, intervention and consultancy services to adults with intellectual disabilities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to high‑quality, person‑centred care and the ongoing development of best practice within intellectual disability health services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • conducting comprehensive communication assessments
  • developing and implementing individualised, evidence‑based intervention programs
  • providing expert advice and consultation to families, carers, support staff and external agencies
  • leading clinical initiatives and providing supervision, mentoring and guidance to less experienced staff
  • collaborating with medical, allied health and disability support professionals to ensure coordinated care
  • contributing to service development, research activities and continuous quality improvement

To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

About You:

You will bring a high level of clinical expertise, leadership capability and a commitment to improving outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities. Your strengths include extensive knowledge and advanced skills in speech pathology assessment and intervention across diverse clinical presentations; strong interpersonal abilities, including negotiation, consultation and conflict‑resolution skills; proven capacity to build effective partnerships with clients, families, culturally diverse communities and service providers; excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate, timely clinical documentation and reports; demonstrated leadership experience, including staff supervision, mentoring and supporting team development; experience in acute or complex clinical settings, including program evaluation, service development and implementation of evidence‑based practice; and proven ability to develop, implement and evaluate departmental policies and procedures within a healthcare context.
