About the role

The Occupational Therapist delivers expert hand therapy inclusive of burn and scar management and effective clinical leadership, overseeing protocols, training, supervision, and service improvement. The Occupational Therapist further manages a specialised caseload of children aged 0-18 years with traumatic hand or upper limb injury as well as congenital hand deformities, upper limb differences, and burns and scar management. 

Key duties of the role

  • Provide hand therapy to infants, children and adolescents.
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality and safe care.
  • Ensure that the services provided and are person and family centred.
  • Provide specialised input and oversee the prioritisation of clinical cases.
  • Develop relevant processes and protocols regarding specific conditions.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Australia Board of Australia.
  • Broad experience in Occupational Therapy management of paediatric patients.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Hand Therapy clients.
  • Knowledge of relevant Paediatric Occupational Therapy theories and models.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and supervisory experience.
