About the Roles

Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network is looking for passionate direct care attendants and lifestyle staff to join our teams across residential and community services. With multiple opportunities available, you can make a real difference supporting residents and clients to live independently, stay engaged, and enjoy meaningful social connections.

The Direct Care Attendant (Residential) assists residents in Residential Care Homes by supporting daily living activities and promoting independence. Working under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe, person-centred care and contribute to a positive and supportive environment.

The Direct Care Attendant (Community) provides support for people who are aged, frail, or living with a disability, helping them remain safely at home. You will work closely with the coordinator and community health professionals to provide practical assistance, social engagement, and diversional support while promoting independence and well-being.

The Lifestyle Coordinator plans, coordinates, and evaluates programs that enhance independence, engagement, and well-being for participants. Using a participant-directed care approach, you will deliver individual and group activities, support volunteers, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide meaningful, person-centred social support.

The Lifestyle and Activity Assistant supports residents to participate in social and diversional activities that promote independence and engagement. You will assist with group and individual programs, provide emotional support, and contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive environment under the guidance of the Lifestyle Coordinator.

 

Key Responsibilities:

WHD3

  • Provide person-centred care and support in routine clinical tasks within scope of practice.
  • Assist with implementing therapeutic interventions and monitor care plans for outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, reporting, and efficient operation of the health unit.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and support the learning of students or less experienced staff.
  • Act as a professional resource and provide guidance within knowledge and skill limits.

WHD4

  • Deliver proficient, person-centred clinical care and case management; oversee care within a team/unit.
  • Assist leadership in management, coordinate services across disciplines, and support change initiatives.
  • Participate in teaching, professional development, and promote a learning culture.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, research, and apply evidence-based practice to improve care outcomes.
  • Provide shift leadership, act as a resource, and undertake portfolio responsibilities.

WHD5 

  • Lead expert clinical care and coordination across wards/units/services to ensure continuity and quality.
  • Implement corporate policies, quality improvement, risk management, and resource oversight.
  • Maintain a professional practice portfolio and foster a learning environment for staff development.
  • Lead and evaluate research activities to improve service delivery and patient/client outcomes.
  • Provide strategic leadership, mentoring, and lead changes to models of care and organisational initiatives.

Barmera is situated approximately 220 kilometres north-east of Adelaide. Barmera has 18 acute beds, and 80 residential aged care beds.

Karoonda is located approximately 140 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. Karoonda has 2 emergency department beds and 17 residential aged care beds.

Lameroo District Health Service
Located approximately 200 kilometres south-east of Adelaide and approximately 130 kilometres east of Murray Bridge, Lameroo has 8 acute beds and 16 residential aged care beds.

Meningie is approximately 150 kilometres south-east of Adelaide and approximately 77 kilometres south of Murray Bridge. Meningie has 10 acute beds and 10 residential aged care beds.

Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial Hospital
​The Murray Bridge Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is situated approximately 75 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital has 32 acute beds and 9 emergency department beds.

Pinnaroo Soldiers Memorial Hospital
Pinnaroo is situated approximately 240 kilometres south-east of Adelaide and approximately 170 kilometres east of Murray Bridge. Pinnaroo operates with a 3-bed emergency department, 7-bed acute ward and 22 residential aged care beds.
