About the role

As the Senior Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the organisation, management and operation of your designated pharmacy area, delivering a comprehensive, high-level range of pharmacy services across the hospital. You will exercise independent and autonomous judgement in providing expert medicines information and therapeutic advice to patients, as well as medical, nursing and allied health professionals, in accordance with hospital and divisional policies, professional standards and contemporary pharmacy practice guidelines.

You will play a pivotal role in optimising patient outcomes by implementing strategies that promote the quality use of medicines in a safe and cost-effective manner. Through strong clinical leadership and collaboration, you will support multidisciplinary decision-making, strengthen governance and contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.

About You

To succeed in this Senior Pharmacist role, you will bring extensive hospital pharmacy experience, strong clinical leadership capability and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred services. You will meet the following essential minimum requirements:

  • Qualifications and Registration: Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

  • Clinical Expertise and Knowledge: Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, demonstrating professional and technical competence and comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes of practice and standards.

  • Leadership and Service Development: Proven leadership, supervisory or management experience, with the ability to investigate, implement and develop strategies to improve service delivery, and to supervise, educate and train professional and non-professional staff within a multidisciplinary health care team.

  • Communication, Analysis and Professional Judgement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational ability and attention to detail, demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving capability, and the ability to work independently under broad guidelines within a complex clinical environment.
