About the role

As a Technical Officer (TGO2), you will play an important role in contributing to the delivery of a high-quality, multi-disciplined pathology service within a regional laboratory setting. Working both independently and collaboratively, you will apply your technical knowledge and sound judgement to support research, operational and project-based programs. Your work will directly contribute to accurate, timely and reliable pathology outcomes that support patient care across the region.

At this level, you may lead minor technical projects and provide supervisory support within the team, drawing on your expertise and practical experience to guide quality service delivery. You will also be responsible for preparing reports and providing informed recommendations regarding the technical suitability of equipment, procedures, processes and results. About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical capability, a commitment to quality laboratory practice and the ability to contribute positively within a collaborative team environment. You will meet the following essential minimum requirements:

  • Qualifications and Technical Foundation: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in an approved and recognised qualification (or equivalent), with demonstrated experience in a relevant laboratory environment and high-level knowledge of diagnostic laboratory practice.

  • Laboratory Expertise and Quality Focus: Sound knowledge of quality principles, procedures and Work Health and Safety practices, with proven experience in troubleshooting, problem resolution and meeting client requirements.

  • Organisation, Initiative and Performance: Ability to manage variable workloads, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in accordance with standard laboratory procedures, working under limited supervision while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

  • Communication and Team Contribution: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and a positive commitment to customer service, with the ability to supervise and train staff, prepare and present reports, follow instructions and use relevant computer software confidently.
