Overview:

The Clinical Informatician will use specific subject matter expertise and knowledge to actively engage stakeholders and ensure successful adoption of DHSA clinical solutions and is accountable for taking a clinical leadership role in the Office of the Chief Medical Information Officer.

The role is responsible for the development of training models, reviewing existing practice and workflows and provision of expert clinical informatics advice to assist with development and implementation of clinical digital solutions.  The incumbent works within a multidisciplinary team to facilitates and reinforces clear and early communication in relation to requirements to support adoption across their clinical or non-clinical professional community.

The position is also responsible for providing advice regarding the development of clinical digital solutions, and to provide recommendations related to impacts of technology on SA Health operational policies DHSA related processes, or clinical practice impacts.

Various practice models may be used to enact this role, including but not limited to:

  • Coordination and leadership of projects and/or programs that contribute clinical expertise to improve patient/client/service outcomes.

Employees in this role accept accountability for their nursing/midwifery practice, the outcomes of nursing/midwifery practices for the specific patient/client group, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category B (indirect contact with blood or body substances)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

  • The successful applicant will be required to work part time within a clinical practice setting aligned to their professional practice experience.
  • Work outside of normal business hours as part of a roster during specific periods will be required.
  • The incumbent may be required to travel or work across and/or be located at any of the Department of Health units/divisions as required.
  • Some state-wide travel may be required.
  • A flexible approach to the taking of leave is required.
  • Meet immunisation requirements as outlined by the Immunisation for Health Care Workers in South Australia Policy Directive.
