About the role

As the Senior Pharmacist Team Leader for Acute and Urgent Care Team 1, you will have overall responsibility for leading a team of pharmacists, assistants, and technicians within the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, EDGE (short-stay geriatrics) and Acute Surgical unit to ensure the delivery of a high-quality pharmacy service. You will provide management, mentoring and professional guidance to support the implementation of Medication Management directives, policies, procedures and guidelines, while acting as a key point of contact for clinicians and service units regarding pharmacy issues and services. Your leadership will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, working closely with other team leaders and the Deputy Directors of Pharmacy.

As a Senior Pharmacist – Emergency Department you will be working in the RAH Emergency Department providing clinical pharmacy services to ED and admitted patients with opportunities for Partnered Pharmacist Medication Prescribing (PPMP) for eligible applicants. This role will be rostered across seven-days including weekends and public holidays.

About You

To thrive in this Senior Pharmacist leadership role, you will bring extensive hospital pharmacy experience, strong change capability and the ability to lead within a complex, fast-paced clinical environment. You will meet the following essential minimum requirements:

  • Qualifications and Professional Standing: Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, demonstrating professional and technical competence and comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes of practice and standards.

  • Leadership and Change Management: Proven leadership, supervisory or management experience within multidisciplinary teams, with demonstrated ability to lead change, investigate and implement service improvements, and supervise, educate and develop professional and non-professional staff.

  • Clinical Expertise and Analytical Capability: Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, with strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making and service delivery.

  • Communication, Resilience and Organisation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong public relations capability, and the ability to work independently under limited direction, prioritise competing demands, meet tight deadlines and remain adaptable, flexible and resilient within a complex health care environment.
