Join Our Caring Team

Registered Nurse (RN1) & Clinical Nurse (RN2C)

Marjorie Tripp Ward | Flinders Medical Centre

If you’re passionate about caring for older people and want to work somewhere your skills truly matter, we’d love to hear from you.

Marjorie Tripp Ward is an acute 20-bed unit at Flinders Medical Centre caring for patients with acute medical conditions, who also experience geriatric syndromes such as frailty, falls and dementia. Our patients are often vulnerable and complex — and that’s why thoughtful, person-centred nursing makes such a difference here.

We’re a supportive, team-focused ward where people look out for one another. We have a high daily turnover of patients, often admitting straight from the Emergency Department; and are very well supported by Nurse Consultants and a Patient Flow role each day.  Whether you’re applying as an RN1 or an experienced RN2C, you’ll be joining a team that values compassion, collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.

Our ward is a part of The Division of Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care (Div RAP), which is renowned for their many staff wellbeing initiatives – including fortnightly division wide touchpoints, surprise ‘Apple and Doughnut Days’, dedicated education  teams, culturally safe spaces, wellbeing grants (eg massage chairs, coffee vouchers), celebrations and recognition, and all the encouragement you may need to achieve your personal goals.

“Supportive, caring, busy, interesting, experienced, resilient, helpful, fun” – words that our current nurses used to describe the Marjorie Tripp Ward, their colleagues, and what it is like to work there.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll provide direct, person-centred care on a 7-day roster, supporting patients and their families through what can be a challenging time.

Depending on your experience, you may also:

  • Take on team leader responsibilities on shift (after being upskilled and trained)
  • Support and guide students and less experienced staff
  • Contribute to education and quality improvement activities and ideas
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure patients’ goals of care are understood and respected
  • Provide health education to patients and carers to help improve outcomes beyond their hospital stay

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for nurses who:

  • Communicate clearly and kindly
  • Can problem-solve and stay calm in complex situations
  • Are flexible and open to new ideas
  • Love to “think outside the box”
  • Have experience or a strong interest in caring for older people
  • Enjoy supporting and mentoring others
  • Have an interest in improving the lives and experience of our patients and families.
  • Provide the same level of care, compassion and clinical skill they would want for their own loved ones.

For RN2C (Clinical Nurse) applicants:

You’ll need at least three years post-registration experience, with demonstrated clinical leadership and examples of safety or quality initiatives you’ve helped lead or improve.
