Medical Scientist - Night Shift Coverage

  • Salary: MeS1 - $68,478 - $83,594 p.a. (pro-rata) + Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits
  • Location:  Woodville, SA.
  • Temporary, Part-Time Role - 0.5FTE (37.5 Hours per fortnight) until September 2026

About the Role

As a Medical Scientist – Night Shift, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, timely diagnostic services when they are needed most. Working autonomously within a supportive framework, you will apply your scientific and technical expertise to perform routine and complex diagnostic testing, ensuring accurate analysis, validation and reporting in accordance with established laboratory methods and KPIs. From specimen receipt and identity checks through to prioritising urgent workloads and providing clinically relevant interpretation where appropriate, your work will directly support safe and responsive patient care. Experience in a multidisciplinary diagnostic setting is a must. The Laboratory offers Haematology, Biochemistry, Coagulation, Morphology and Blood Bank services. 

During night operations, you will exercise professional judgement within defined areas of practice while maintaining strong communication with senior staff regarding diagnostic or technical issues. You will contribute to quality management activities, including audits, quality control and assurance programs, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, you will assist with the implementation of new methods and equipment (including participation in User Acceptance Testing), maintain laboratory instruments and inventory, uphold meticulous record keeping, and ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety and regulatory requirements. About You

To be successful in this role, you will meet the essential minimum requirements under NPAAC supervision standards and bring the technical expertise, professionalism and attention to detail required to deliver high-quality diagnostic pathology services.

  • AQF Level 7 pathology qualification (or AIMS equivalent)

  • Proven laboratory experience with analytical equipment

  • Strong time management with focus on quality & accuracy

  • Excellent communication, teamwork & problem-solving skills
