Join Our Team as a Senior Regional Clinical Coder - Drive Data Accuracy and Support Quality Care

About the Role:

As the Senior Regional Clinical Coder, you will report to the Coding & Health Information Consultant and be responsible for the accurate translation of inpatient and same-day health records using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, ACS and South Australian Coding Standards. Your work will support statistical analysis, epidemiology, activity-based funding, research and auditing of admitted patient care quality.

You will deliver a high-quality coding service across the 12 health services within the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network, including Riverland General Hospital, Barmera Health Service, Loxton Health Complex, Renmark and Paringa District Hospital, Waikerie Health Service, Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Karoonda and District Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Lameroo District Health Service, Mannum District Hospital, Meningie and Districts Memorial Hospital, Pinnaroo Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Tailem Bend District Hospital.

You will code a diverse case mix including acute, sub-acute, mental health and surgical admitted patient care in line with Department for Health and Wellbeing Enterprise Data and Information requirements.

This position requires demonstrated experience in Australian clinical coding and a strong understanding of national and state coding standards. The role offers a working-from-home arrangement; however, you must be willing and able to attend one of the LHN’s health units when required to support service needs.

In addition, you will contribute to internal coding audits, support trainee clinical coders, and provide guidance to hospital administration staff regarding Admitted Care Collections as required.

What We’re Looking For:

• Satisfactory completion of one of the following Clinical Coding courses:
  • HLT50321 Diploma in Clinical Coding.
  • Advance Coding Course.
  • Certificate IV in Clinical Classification.
  • Intermediate Coding Course with 
• Competency using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS with a minimum of 3 years’ coding experience.
• Competency in ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS 13th edition.
• Recent coding experience within a hospital setting.
• Medical records or other health information services background within a hospital environment.
• Demonstrated experience and competency in data collection, reporting and analysis.
