Join SA Health as a Senior Dietitian - for Women and Children at Flinders Medical Centre, where you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of South Australian families. This part-time, short-term contract position runs until 30 June 2026 and offers the opportunity to lead nutritional care while working in specialised clinical areas.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Service manager this role is responsible for ensuring that evidence-based systems, procedures and protocols are developed, implemented and reviewed within their team, to achieve safe practice, and high-quality patient outcomes. They have responsibility for leading a team of professional dietitians in Women's and Children's (W&C) Division and provide Leadership and clinical supervision of these staff. The senior dietitian oversees co-ordination of the team function and workloads.

The Senior Dietitian specialises within a certain clinical area or areas relating to their team. The Senior Dietitian is part of the W&C allied Health leadership team and works collaboratively with this group to achieve outcomes of the service and division.  

Duties for the role will include:

  • Being responsible for evaluating the completeness and adequacy of the nutrition care aspects of patient care, through liaison with nursing, medical and catering staff.
  • Taking Leadership in guiding other departmental staff members in the area of allocated nutrition. 
  • Participating in ward rounds, meetings and conferences to integrate nutritional care into total patient care including those of the allocated units and other units as required.
  • Being Responsible for the nutrition/dietetic counselling on an individual or group basis of inpatients, outpatients where appropriate, and other relevant groups.

About you:

  • Ability to lead a co-ordinate a team and foster good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that foster trust, confidence and co-operation at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent skills in problem solving, decision making, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Specialised Clinical experience in the dietetic management of a range of conditions affecting Women and children, including neonates.
