About the role: 

Reporting to the RFL Manager, this role is a senior clinical and technical role within the Respiratory Function Laboratory. The position provides advanced respiratory diagnostic services, leads quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs, and ensures compliance with TSANZ / National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation standards.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Direct day-to-day supervision of respiratory scientists, coordinate daily lab operations to ensure service continuity
  • Perform and oversee complex lung function testing 
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture that is highly responsive to the needs of clinical services

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Medical Science, Respiratory Science, or related discipline,
  • Certified Respiratory Function Scientist by ANZSRS, or international equivalent, e.g. Association of Respiratory Technology & Physiology (ARTP),
  • Professional Registration or illegible registration with ACCP
  • Demonstrated advanced competency across routine and advanced pulmonary function testing, including cardiopulmonary exercise testing,
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex inpatient and urgent testing workflows.
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in a Respiratory Function Laboratory,
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior respiratory scientists.
