About the role: 

Reporting to the Safety Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the investigation and review of significant adverse patient incidents and supporting the organisation in implementation of learnings and improvements identified from same.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Manage the Critical Incident Analysis process and facilitates the evaluation of adverse events,
  • Undertakes institution-wide, divisional, clinical unit, or specific clinician level analyses of other safety and quality issues using existing data or further sources of information relevant to the issue under investigation,
  • Participate in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data relating to incidents and adverse/sentinel events for all campuses of SAHLN,
  • Use available information systems to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff,
  • Contribute to the development of, implementation of, and monitoring of corporate policies and processes and lead in their area of expertise

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse and/or Midwife,
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and or midwifery practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice,
  • Demonstrated experience in applying the principles and practice of safety and quality in health care,
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical project management
