Consumer Engagement Coordinator Role

Join SALHN as a Consumer Engagement Coordinator and be the bridge between healthcare services and the communities they serve. You will facilitate meaningful consumer participation in health service planning and delivery, ensuring patient voices shape healthcare decisions across southern Adelaide. About the role: 

The Consumer Engagement Coordinator is accountable to the Manager Consumer & Community Engagement and responsible for providing project direction and support, working collaboratively with consumers, carers and the community, and effectively maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that consumer participation complies with SA Health policy and directives, together with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standard 2: Partnering with Consumers. This role is responsible for supporting the consumer representative program within SALHN including recruitment, orientation and onboarding, reimbursement processing and general support.

Duties for the role will include:

  • The Consumer Engagement Coordinator will forge collaborative partnerships to provide high level advice and support to ensure the continuous improvement of engagement with consumers and the health care sector,
  • The Consumer Engagement Coordinator will work collaboratively with divisions to support consumer focused continuous improvement projects. The role will also undertake analysis of data and information and prepare reports and briefings,
  • Recruitment, induction, and orientation of new consumer representatives,
  • Ongoing support for the network of consumers engaged by SALHN, including the provision administrative support and associated resources,
  • Managing electronic databases,
  • Identifying opportunities, making recommendations for improvements to and where necessary, the development of systems, procedures and education resources to support and promote appropriate engagement with consumers across SALHN,
  • Provide advice and direction on consumer centred care, engagement and experience activities, processes and procedure development to ensure compliance and assurance protocols, policies, quality and accreditation processes that underpin the SALHN, SA Health and National directions as outlined in key SALHN strategic documents,
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant service providers and key stakeholders

About you:

  • Experience in working directly with consumers and other representatives within the health care sector and an understanding of the challenges and diversities associated with this group,
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives, health professionals and community members,
  • Experience in successfully managing projects and undertaking multiple tasks, dealing with competing priorities and meeting deadlines,
  • Experience working with consumers and other representatives
