About the role

The Physiotherapist delivers specialised neurodevelopmental and neonatal care, providing comprehensive assessment, intervention, and management for complex neonatal and paediatric patients. The role supports early diagnosis, outpatient follow‑up, group programs, parent education, and evidence‑based therapy. This role works across the Women's and Children's Hospital campus and its community sites. 

Key duties of the role

  • Provide physiotherapy assessment, management, and intervention to patients with neuro-developmental issues.
  • Manage a caseload of complex neonatal and paediatric inpatients on the neonatal and paediatric wards.
  • Provide outpatient follow-up for at risk babies.
  • Provide outpatient assessment of preschool and school aged children presenting with neurodevelopmental concerns.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Experience in paediatric physiotherapy (particularly in neurological/neurosurgical and neuro-developmental physiotherapy).
  • Experience in the early detection of neurological and developmental issues in infants.
  • Experience in the co-ordination and facilitation of group therapy sessions for children, both land based and hydrotherapy.
  • Sensitivity in dealing with families coping with unexpected and adverse outcomes.
