Step into a high-impact leadership role and shape the future of workplace safety as our Manager, Work Health Safety & Injury Management.

The Manager, Work Health Safety and Injury Management provides strategic leadership and operational direction for the delivery of comprehensive WHS services across the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). Reporting to the Advanced Nursing Director Workforce WHS / Infection Control, this role leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for consultancy, advisory and operational WHS functions, driving legislative compliance, continuous improvement and a strong culture of safety.

With a clear focus on prevention, the role ensures robust systems are in place to identify, assess and control both physical and psychosocial hazards, minimising harm across diverse healthcare settings. The Manager leads early intervention strategies, develops WHS plans and priorities, and oversees compliance and audit programs to proactively address emerging risks and improvement opportunities.

Working in alignment with SA Health frameworks, the position plays a pivotal role in implementing the state-wide WHS system and shaping SALHN’s local safety agenda across key sites, including Flinders Medical Centre, Repatriation General Hospital, and Noarlunga Hospital. The role also contributes to achieving Cabinet Targets, Accreditation Standards (EQuIP), and the Strategy for Safety and Wellbeing in the Public Sector, ensuring WHS excellence at a network-wide level.

About you:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity, ethical conduct, and compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2012, with the ability to apply the Premier’s Safety Commitment and contemporary risk management standards such as AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management (or equivalent).
  • Extensive expertise in Work Health, Safety and Injury Management (WHS & IM), with a proven ability to influence and lead organisational change that improves safety outcomes, injury management performance, resource utilisation and workplace culture.
  • Strong leadership experience managing staff and significant resources, fostering accountability, high performance and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Sound knowledge of quality improvement principles, WorkCover performance standards for self-insurers, and the application of the natural consequences model.
