Join SA Health as a Principal Communications Adviser and lead strategic communication initiatives at one of South Australia's premier healthcare facilities. Based at Flinders Medical Centre within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, this full-time ongoing position offers an exceptional opportunity to shape health communication across Adelaide's southern metropolitan region.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Communications, this role is responsible for the development and implementation of effective communication plans and strategic community engagement plans, targeting internal and external audience groups of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). The role is expected to lead and manage projects, develop and execute communication strategies relating to SALHN’s plans, programs, campaigns or services resulting in a more effective and consistent communication with target groups, and collectively contribute to improving confidence in SALHN.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Leading the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of relevant strategic communication, social marketing, and community engagement models. 
  • Providing expert strategic communications advice to executive/senior staff on all aspects of stakeholder and communication activities. 
  • Coordinating the effective day-to-day communications and marketing activities, operational management, including ensuring other team members are able to effectively and efficiently complete their projects by the provision of guidance and supervision. 
  • Identifying, coordinating and monitoring the work of relevant staff within the team, including the provision of appropriate training and development activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining effecting working relationships with Executive staff, the Minister's Office, Department of Health and Wellbeing staff and community groups. 

About you:

  • Proven ability to write a range of audiences with a particular emphasis on detail, accuracy and plain English, and to apply highly developed liaison, negotiation and verbal communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability and judgement in providing strategic and innovative solutions to complex social marketing and communication problems. 
  • Proven experience in the research, development and implementation of communication plans
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills and the ability to produce user friendly communication that is clear, concise and accurate.
