SA Ambulance Service

• Full Time / Ongoing - Multiple Positions – Pool
• Commencement August 2026
• Salary: $59,075 - $72,776 (plus additional penalties ranging from 10% to 30.631%, depending on role configuration)

About the Role  

The Patient Transfer Officer (PTO) position responds to requests for non-emergency care and transportation of patients, ensuring that appropriate standards of customer service and patient care are maintained. PTOs work closely with hospital staff and nursing home personnel to ensure that patients requiring transportation receive the highest level of service.

Please note: While the role typically involves low-acuity cases, there may be times when your team is the closest ambulance to a high-acuity emergency.

SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) is the provider of emergency ambulance services in South Australia and is dedicated to providing the people of SA with the highest level of emergency medical patient care, treatment and transport.

Eligibility

SAAS are seeking applicants with the following abilities, values and experience:

• Ability to put the patient first and work confidently with people at all levels to achieve good outcomes
• Ability to remain calm and solve complex problems in stressful situations
• Ability to listen, show empathy and demonstrate compassion towards vulnerable clients/patients
• Ability to use sound inter-personal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to work with clients/patients to achieve positive outcomes
• Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a strong commitment to teamwork
• Ability to demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and confidentiality in all dealings
• Experience in acting promptly to solve problems under pressure

Applicants must hold a current HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid qualification to be eligible for appointment.
