Care with Purpose: Enrolled Nurse - Ward 18V, Flinders Medical Centre

Join our specialised Older Persons Mental Health team at Flinders Medical Centre, where you'll provide compassionate nursing care to older adults in a contemporary mental health ward environment. This full-time, ongoing Enrolled Nurse position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams whilst developing your expertise in mental health nursing. About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for providing person-centred nursing care to older adults with complex mental health needs in a secure therapeutic environment, supporting their recovery journey through clinical care, daily living assistance, and collaborative multidisciplinary treatment planning.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in mental health assessment, care and routine procedures for mental health recovery nursing practices,
  • Under the direction of a registered nurse makes decisions and takes initiative to plan and complete nursing care tasks within their scope of practice,
  • Contributes to quality improvement,
  • Provides assistance to other members of the health care team in provision of care to individuals/groups, including overseeing the work of students,
  • Provides education to patients/clients, families and carers,
  • Contributes to the education of others

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • In order to administer medicines, must have completed a Board-approved program of study which includes an administration of medicines unit,
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills,
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment,
  • Ability to prioritise workload, recognise and report changes in clinical condition,
  • Experience in the provision of nursing care in the healthcare setting in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice
