Job no: 933101
Work type: Full time
Location: Adelaide Metro Northern
Categories: Allied and Scientific Health

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity awaits within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) for a dedicated Senior Exercise Physiologist to join the Northern Adelaide Rehabilitation Service (NARS). This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across inpatient, supported discharge and home‑based rehabilitation services.

As a Senior Exercise Physiology Practitioner, you will play a key role in developing, implementing and evaluating high‑quality rehabilitation services across NALHN. Working as an integral member of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will deliver evidence‑based exercise physiology interventions that support optimal patient outcomes and smooth transitions through each stage of care.

Your expertise will also extend to providing specialist input to medical and surgical inpatients, supporting early rehabilitation and timely discharge planning. Collaboration is central to this role, working closely with allied health teams, medical staff and external providers to ensure patient‑centred, goal‑aligned therapy plans.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, this role includes a Discipline Lead component where you’ll contribute to service development by supporting junior staff and students, improving practice guidelines, and assisting with research initiatives that strengthen the quality and innovation of the NARS program. You will also uphold high professional standards, take accountability for delegated tasks and provide leadership within a supportive and progressive environment.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, usually in human movements, inclusive of the exercise physiology elective and eligible for accreditation from Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA).

About You:

In this role you will bring enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping people regain independence and achieve their rehabilitation goals. You work confidently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing positively to a collaborative and high‑performing service.

You demonstrate strong capability in exercise physiology assessment and treatment across diverse rehabilitation presentations. Your excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills help you build effective partnerships with patients, families and service providers. You communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats and produce accurate clinical documentation. You bring leadership strengths in supervising staff, supporting students and contributing to team development.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference and grow your career within a supportive and dynamic environment, we look forward to receiving your application.
