WHERE YOU'LL BE AND WHAT YOU'LL DO

Burra Hospital is located in the picturesque township of Burra, a town rich in South Australia’s mining heritage. Famous for the historic “Monster Mine”, Burra played a pivotal role in shaping the early prosperity of the state through its copper mining industry.

Situated 164 kilometres north of Adelaide, Burra offers a welcoming village atmosphere, with beautifully preserved heritage buildings lining the town square. The surrounding district is well known for its strong agricultural base, particularly wool, fat lamb, and cattle production. Burra also enjoys close proximity to the world-renowned Clare and Barossa Valley wine regions, with the township of Clare just a 30-minute drive away.

Burra Hospital is a small but vital rural health service, offering:

  • 5 acute inpatient beds
  • 16 MPS aged care beds

Services provided include:

  • 24-hour accident and emergency care
  • Acute inpatient care
  • Palliative care services
  • Residential aged care
  • Visiting General Practitioner, dental, and allied health services

Role overview

You will be warmly welcomed into a friendly, collaborative team dedicated to working with you to plan and deliver direct care to:

  • Acute patients
  • Residential aged care residents
  • Patients presenting to the emergency department

  • Registration or eligibility for enrolment as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
