The Service Delivery & Business Administration Services Branch focuses on improving the reliability and performance of Digital Health SA services, ensuring they remain aligned to evolving customer needs. Our responsibilities span service level management, incident and problem management, enterprise systems monitoring, cyber and information security, continuous improvement, demand management, workforce planning, human resources, procurement, finance, training and development, and facilities management.

About the Role

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for defining and driving cyber security across one of Australia’s largest and most complex health systems.

As Chief Information Security Officer, you will set the strategic direction for cyber security and technology risk across SA Health protecting critical infrastructure while enabling large-scale digital transformation. You will lead the design and execution of a future-focused cyber security strategy and operating model, strengthening resilience across a highly interconnected and essential service environment.

Operating at the centre of executive decision-making, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders shaping enterprise-wide governance, influencing major investment decisions, and embedding security into all digital initiatives.

This role offers a rare combination of scale, influence, and purpose, with responsibility spanning statewide services, complex stakeholder environments, and system-wide cyber uplift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead SA Health’s cyber security strategy, roadmap, and operating model
  • Strengthen enterprise security posture, governance, and risk management
  • Drive uplift in cyber maturity aligned to key frameworks (e.g. Essential Eight)
  • Embed security-by-design across major programs, projects, and digital services
  • Oversee security operations, threat management, and incident response
  • Build and lead a high-performing cyber security and risk team
  • Provide trusted strategic advice to senior executives and influence key decisions
  • Partner across SA Health and government to align with whole-of-government strategies
  • Foster a strong, organisation-wide culture of cyber security awareness

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a strategic and experienced cyber security leader who brings:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale cyber security programs
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, particularly through periods of transformation and change
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and provide high-quality advice and briefings
  • Demonstrated experience operating at a senior level within large, complex organisations, translating strategy into measurable outcomes
