About the new Playford Satellite Dialysis Unit

A $12 million, purpose-built facility, the Playford Satellite Dialysis Unit represents a significant expansion of renal services in the north:

  • Expanding from a 9-chair service to a 30-chair unit
  • Supporting 84 additional patients to access life-saving dialysis treatment
  • Featuring:
    • 26 open treatment bays
    • 4 private treatment rooms
    • Dedicated staff and support areas
  • Designed with a dementia-friendly layout, ensuring ease of navigation and patient comfort

This new facility is part of broader investment in the Lyell McEwin Hospital precinct, including significant increases in inpatient capacity—reflecting rapid growth and demand in the region.

About the Role: 

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide pivotal leadership and coordination of care delivery within the dialysis unit.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive, high-performing culture
  • Ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care
  • Driving clinical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Collaborating with nephrologists and allied health professionals
  • Managing workforce, rostering, resources and service performance
  • Embedding evidence-based practice, quality and safety systems
  • Leading change and shaping models of care to meet growing service demand

You will be accountable for patient outcomes, team performance and service delivery, ensuring alignment with SA Health standards and best practice frameworks.

About You: 

You are a confident clinical leader with a passion for delivering outstanding patient care and building high-performing teams.

You will demonstrate:

  • Registration (or eligibility) for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
  • Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills
  • Experience managing teams and delivering high-quality clinical services
  • A commitment to person- and family-centred care
  • Proven ability to lead change, innovation and service improvement
  • Experience in quality, safety and risk management frameworks
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership style

Lyell McEwin Hospital  The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services. 

Modbury Hospital  A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care. 

Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.  

Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.  

Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.
