Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is one of the largest regional hospitals in South Australia, offering 75 beds, including flex beds and a dedicated High Dependency Unit. We provide a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, medical and surgical services, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatient clinics. Our Cancer Resource Centre is among the largest in regional SA, featuring six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care, and counselling services - helping patients receive vital treatment close to home. We are also proud to be one of only three regional stroke services in South Australia, delivering specialised stroke treatment 24/7 in partnership with metropolitan stroke units. Living and Working in the Flinders and Upper North Region - Whyalla

 

About the Role:

As an Infection Prevention Control Nurse, you will deliver person-centred care while supporting safe clinical practices across the service. Working with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager, you will contribute to care coordination, service planning and the smooth day-to-day operation of the ward/unit. You will support practice improvement, assist with resolving clinical issues, and contribute to education, clinical audit and quality activities. You will also provide leadership within the team and act as a key resource for staff.

 

About You:

  • You must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • You must be a registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical
    Nurse/Midwife.
  • You must have demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards
    of practice.
  • You must have experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
