Overview:

The position of Manager Immunisation Stakeholder Engagement and Promotion is accountable to the Director IS for a comprehensive, multi-platform approach to stakeholder engagement activities and health promotion to foster a positive culture within public health promotion and immunisation programs.

The role will focus on:

  • Assess community needs, develop tailored health promotional immunisation strategies and resources, and contribute to promoting immunisation uptake and the knowledge for health professionals and consumers.
  • Providing strategic direction, oversight and management of consumer and health professional engagement activities with a focus on increasing community and stakeholder awareness of the requirement and value of health professional and consumer participation in all aspects of immunisation program and immunisation service delivery.
  • Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of high quality, effective stakeholder engagement activities, including but not limited to the development and delivery of presentations, articles, printed materials and providing a quality assurance function for materials developed by the Immunisation Section.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders and communities to promote and contribute to the delivery of immunisation services and evaluating their effectiveness, addressing gaps particularly for Culturally and Linguist Diverse communities and Aboriginal people as per the National Immunisation Strategy.
  • Drive the management and continuous improvement of consumer engagement and fostering opportunities within immunisation services for consumers and health professionals.
  • Lead the South Australian Immunisation Engagement Group (SAIEG) with representation from key stakeholders to inform and discuss current recommendations and strategies aiming to increase immunisation coverage rates for childhood, adolescent, antenatal and adult cohorts.
  • Providing guidance, support and mentoring to other team members and immunisation service providers on stakeholder engagement and taking a strategic lead role in how best to engage vulnerable populations.
  • An ability to easily build relationships and be flexible to stakeholder needs will be integral to the successful performance of this position, as well as the ability to learn quickly and tailor information to the needs of different stakeholders.
  • Immunisation program promotion to assist in enabling consumers to increase control over, and to improve current immunisation coverage rates to reduce the risk of vaccine preventable diseases in South Australia.
  • Provide management support for specific Immunisation Section work portfolio/s related to improving immunisation coverage rates, including addressing misinformation.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment).
  • A DHS ‘Working With Children Check’ (WWCC) is required for this position.

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact).

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in communication, community engagement, marketing, health promotion, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in effectively engaging with community on public sector projects.
  • Experience in public health promotion activities that enable consumers to increase control over, and to improve their health and wellbeing
  • Knowledge of the departments organisation structure, policies, procedures and system and the role and function of the Communicable Disease Control Branch.
  • Knowledge of the National Immunisations Program, state funded immunisation programs.
  • Sound knowledge of the whole-of-government approach to media and communication including Department for Health and Wellbeing media procedures for campaign and non-campaign government advertising.
