About the role

The Clinical Nurse – Burns Service supports the Burns Advanced Nurse Consultant in managing burns patients, coordinating case management, discharge planning, and clinical improvements. The Clinical Nurse provides nursing assessments, education, and advice to enhance integrated care and support best practice across the hospital.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide person centred, clinical nursing care and individual case management to patients.
  • Monitoring patient care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved.
  • With the support of the Burns Advanced Nurse Consultant, contribute to the burns nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams.
  • Assist and support the Burns Advanced Nurse Consultant in management, clinical, and education activities.
  • Ensure Criteria Led Discharge pathways are being followed and met where appropriate.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Paediatric and burns nursing experience.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
