The High Acuity Surgical Unit at Flinders Medical Centre is a specialized unit that provides comprehensive care for patients with critical surgical conditions, requiring intensive monitoring and treatment. With a team of highly skilled nurses, this unit is dedicated to delivering exceptional care and ensuring positive patient outcomes.

 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Ward 5F NUM, some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Assess individual patient needs, plan, implement and coordinate appropriate care delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies
  • Working with patients and their families where there are multiple complexities and diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Recognising and responding to clinical deterioration or other incidents and escalating appropriately
  • Provide, with increasing capacity over time, support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, Enrolled Nurses, student nurses and other workers providing basic nursing care,
  • Provide health promotion and education, to patients and carers to improve the health outcomes of individuals

About you:

  • ED or ICU experience (Desirable) 
  • Recent experience in the provision of surgical nursing care in the acute healthcare setting is essential
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting

There are multiple positions available, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

Please note that these positions are multi-classed as either a RNM1 or ENDP1 and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.
